  • The Public Relations Coordinator is responsible for providing entry-level support to the Public Relations team. This position requires foundational journalism, PR, internal communications and social media skills, a desire to learn, strong organizational skills and teamwork.

  • Assist external/internal communications team with developing and executing communications strategies, tools and materials that support the goals and objectives of the company.

  • Execute PR strategy across all product lines and contribute to media outreach planning to support the corporate brand, product messaging and product positioning directives.

  • We are seeking a creative, forward-thinking, and organized coordinator to interact with targeted virtual communities to enhance Athene’s social media presence, including interacting with customers and promoting brand-focused interactive and engaging content.

Communications Accountabilities:

  • Content development: develop press releases and media alerts to create public awareness regarding corporate events.

  • Write materials for, fact checks and assists with content for marketing/sales deliverables.

  • Media and influencer monitoring: develop and maintain media lists, source and compile editorial calendars, identify news trends and opportunities for pitching.

  • Coverage tracking and reporting: manage media coverage tracking, compile daily online newsletter, compile monthly dashboard and reports provide regular updates to PR team and identify trends.

  • Maintain and increase professional knowledge of the latest trends, practices, programs and applications evolving in social media networking.

  • Administrative support: edit pitches, press releases and contributed articles, coordinate events and seek opportunities to assist and collaborate with the broader team.

  • Assist internal and brand communications team: execution of communication deliverables including employee communications, events and other projects as needed.

  • Other duties as requested by Public Relations Manager or Internal Communications Manager.

  • Maintain strong integrity, ethics and credibility in all PR activities.

  • Understand and follow company rules and regulations.

  • Build and execute social media strategy through research, benchmarking, messaging, and audience identification.

  • Partner with marketing and human resources teams to develop social media posts (including images, graphics and links) and monitor social media to identify trends and opportunities. Understanding of PR measurement tools such as Trendkite.

  • Contribute story ideation for both social media and proactive public relations to increase editorial placements in targeted media.

  • Grow and expand company social media presence into new social media platforms, plus increase presence on existing platforms including Facebook, LinkedIn and Twitter.

  • Research and monitor activity of company competitors.


  • A bachelor’s degree in Journalism, PR or Communications, or two years of related experience.

  • A working knowledge of journalism, PR and social media.

  • Understanding of social media metrics; able to interpret the results and take action to increase effectiveness of social media campaigns.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills, high level of organizational skills and attention to detail.

  • Strong time management skills and the ability to juggle multiple deadlines.

  • Ability to work collaboratively with a team-oriented attitude.

  • Understanding and proficiency with basic computer and PR applications, including: MS Office Apps (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.), Google News Alerts and SharePoint.
