Letter from the President:
Updates from the Chapter
With the blizzards, extreme cold, record snow fall and ice storms, scheduling events this winter has been a challenge.  I guess it was just a matter of time that our luck in dodging the weather ran out.

For those of you who had planned on attending the new member orientation in January, it has been rescheduled to begin 30 minutes prior to the Feb. 18 monthly meeting. Unfortunately, we will not be able to reschedule our January speaker, Kevin Smith, Executive Director of Public Affairs for the Minnesota Twins, this year.

Speaking of monthly luncheons, I want to give kudos to Lisa Crandall and Dawn Buzynski, this year’s programming chairs. Lisa and Dawn have worked extremely hard bringing in wonderful monthly speakers. They have a tremendous lineup set for 2010 and have already booked speakers for the entire year. Way to go!

In addition, best of luck to everyone working on PRIME entries this month. And, please remember to nominate members and individuals for the Awards of Excellence Program. Each year we recognize an outstanding chapter member, outstanding new member, outstanding public relations professional and outstanding Iowa advocate.

Help Needed During Iowa State Resume Workshop
The Iowa State Chapter of PRSSA will be hosting a resume workshop for students tomorrow, Feb. 2 from 6 to 7:30 p.m. in Ames. It will be structured like "speed dating," so each student will rotate through the professionals to get 5 to 10 minutes of feedback on their specific resumes. This is a great opportunity to connect with the students and give them nuggets of advice to help them become successful.

The PRSSA board will provide beverages and light snacks for the professionals. If you or someone from your organization is interested in helping out with this, please contact Emily Oliver at 515-221-3015 today.
