With vacation plans and summer schedules in full swing, it’s hard to believe that school begins again in just a few short weeks. In Iowa, we are blessed with many great educational opportunities for learners at any stage of their careers. Whether it’s a graduate degree, short-term, intensive certificate programs, or professional development conferences with global speakers, we’ve gathered a list of opportunities that may inspire you to ‘hit the books’ this fall.

Graduate Degrees - Drake, Iowa State, University of Northern Iowa and Iowa offer dozens of master’s degree programs designed to fit your needs. Programs are offered in-person, 100% online, and in hybrid format as well.

Certificate Programs – PRSA has designed a series of certificate programs in Measurement and Analytics, Content Marketing, Communicating to Manage Performance and Reputation Management. Some programs even offer continued connection in a private community to keep the learning and sharing going.

Professional Development Conferences – PRSA hosts industry-specific conferences around the country. PRSA Central Iowa also hosts OctoPRfest, an annual day-long conference for strategic communicators in Iowa and our neighboring states. This year’s conference, to be held on October 18 at Wellmark Blue Cross and Blue Shield in Des Moines, will feature national speakers covering topics like social media metrics, headline writing that drives engagement, and influencer marketing tips from a global communication specialist for VISA.

PRSA Central Iowa also offers quarterly programs with national speakers, a Friday FYI series tackling issues like reputation management and effective storytelling, networking opportunities for members who have earned the coveted accreditation in public relations, and much, much more. Please contact me (kelly.bruhn@drake.edu) if you are interested in joining our community that is committed to professional development and lifelong learning.
