Three tips for getting organized fast

After a crazy cold winter — which seemed to have lasted forever — many of us were wondering when (and if) spring would even come. And with spring comes messes — not just the dirty snow, or puddles and mud outside, but within your own workspace, too.

When springtime hits, we’re in full swing of our projects and not to mention, trying to organize as much as possible before we take a break and enjoy a nice little vacay — talking to you spring breakers.

Regardless if you went somewhere warm, or stayed put, it’s nice to return to your work week, or start your days off fresh by getting organized — or as some of us say —“Getting our life together.”

And, the best part is, it’s not a hard task. You instantly feel better once you get it done, and you can come into work ready to tackle whatever life brings to you. Here are three quick tips to get you organized.

  1. Start your to-do list on Friday. At the end of the day on Friday, it can be tempting to leave once the clock hits 3 or 4 p.m. Take the extra 10 or 15 minutes to write down your list of “to-do’s” for Monday before you head home for the weekend.
  2. Clean your desk. This doesn’t mean you need to make your desk pristine — just sort and organize. If something’s been lying on your desk for a while that you don’t need anymore — toss it! And, a simple use of disinfectant wipes doesn’t hurt.
  3. Schedule your time. If you have an upcoming deadline, make sure to block your calendar for desk/work time and ensure you’re not distracted.
