Chapter to launch community service program

PRSA – Central Iowa Chapter will offer pro-bono public relations services to one local nonprofit organization in 2020. This program provides professional PR services to a local organization, gives members exclusive volunteer opportunities focused on public relations efforts and increases the chapter’s engagement with the central Iowa community and beyond.

One nonprofit organization will be selected through a two-part application process. Once selected, the core team, including the public relations chair, past president and a PRSA Central Iowa committee member, will work with the nonprofit organization. A broad plan will be developed that includes research, goals, objectives, strategies and tactics, if no plan already exists. Two to three measurement criteria will be identified and monthly contact will be maintained through the year. Chapter members will be brought in based on their area of expertise.

Applications are closed. Recipient will be announced during OctoPRfest.

The two-step application process is now open for local nonprofit organizations to apply. To be eligible, the organization must hold 501(c)(3) nonprofit status and have at least one full-time paid staff who oversees and implements marketing and communications. The selected organization will be chosen based on goals and priorities for the upcoming year, project timing, and the resources, areas of expertise and availability of our volunteer professionals.

Members are asked to share this information with local nonprofit organizations and encourage their participation. The online application can be found on the chapter website.

The deadline for applications is 5:00 p.m., Aug. 28, 2019 and we'll announce the winner at OctoPRfest.

We need your expertise! The skills and talents of our members are needed to make this program a success. Once the nonprofit organization is identified, we'll be seeking member support. This may include social media expertise, media relations, communication planning – and more.
