Immediately upon graduating college, I joined our PRSA chapter to continue to build upon what I gained from my PRSSA membership. However, my first job out of college was almost two hours away from Des Moines which made it difficult to attend meetings. I continued to stay engaged by participating in National PRSA webinars.

Attend an APR information meeting
Earing your APR is one thing you can do to advance your public relations career, continue your professional development and join more than 60 other APRs in the state of Iowa. Be a part of this group of public relations professionals who have demonstrated a set of knowledge, skills and abilities on a wide range of PR-related topics.
You may have already attended a short course, attended a long course, or simply indicated your interest. Don’t let it stop there; plan now to attend our informational meeting. We’ll provide an overview of the process, answer any questions you have, and introduce you to a few Central Iowa APRs who can share the value they have experienced through their accreditation.
Join us on Thursday, Nov. 14 from 5:30 – 7 p.m. at Strategic America, located at 6600 Westown Pkwy #100 in West Des Moines. Light refreshments will be provided. This session will help us gauge interest in our APR prep course, scheduled to begin in January, 2020.
Questions? Contact Christian Gayman, APR, at [email protected].

Q. What is your current position?
A. Lecturer, University of Iowa Tippie College of Business
Q. What made you want to pursue your APR?
A. I pursued my APR because I wanted something to more tangibly indicate my dedication to public relations - in practice and as an educator - and the APR is the best option for that.
Q. How did you celebrate this milestone?
A. To celebrate, I went out for sushi with my husband, who's heard me talk about getting my APR for almost a decade!
